Mahler, Gustav (1860-1911):"Frühling und kein Ende" ("Spring and no end")Symphony No.1 D Major, 1st Movement |
Latest Recording: 17.May 2011 |
Recording NotesThis rendition was begun on 29.May 2010. Early attempts from 11.May 2001 had been discarded, due to insufficient capabilities of sampler and software which I was using at that time. The first version of the recording was completed on 13.June 2010, and after a revision of the instrumental balance (to remove one case of audio clipping) the rendition was released on 15.6.2010. A further revision was made in July 2010, and after a few revisions which had not been released, version 1.4 was published here on 7.April 2011, with additional layering of the string section to achieve stronger attack in some of the segments. There appear some inconsistencies in the tempo instructions of the Eulenburg score: after marker 15 the tempo is indicated as half=66, which in my opinion is too slow.
